TomTom ONE IQ Routes Edition Europe 42 Sat-Nav

All-singing widescreen models may be the most feature-rich and interesting sat-navs to read about, but lots of people just want something cheap and pocket-friendly for the odd trip now and then. For this type of user, TomTom's ONE has offered no-frills navigation for a keen price for a few years now. However, it's not the cheapest model you can buy, so TomTom has recently added a few choice features from its higher-end GO models to create the IQ Routes version, offering more capabilities for a bit more money than the entry level.



This isn't quite as effective as TomTom's HD Traffic system, as the information used is based on historical averages not the current real situation. But it's a lot like the way people who know an area actually take alternative roads to avoid traffic. In our experience, IQ Routes has proven relatively effective, taking us away from regularly traffic-laden roads during rush hour, but choosing them if they are the quickest option when clear. It's not an infallible system, though, and can still be topped by real local knowledge due to thin data for some infrequently used roads.

Navigon 3310 max Sat-Nav

Navigon may not be the first brand you think of when choosing a sat-nav device, but its products often compete quite favourably with better-known names. We were particularly impressed by the value for money of the Navigon 1210 , which was at the time the cheapest option with full European maps on the market, and it wasn't missing any obviously important features.

I got the xovision for two reasons, it was about 200-300 dollars cheaper than any other gps unit and I was curious what kind of product they made.

Right away, I noticed how terrible the interface was. MP3 playback would not show ID3 tag information, when it did, it would Truncate the output. It has support for an SD card, but it does not resume from an SD card. So it's fairly useless as a media input. It does know how to resume from a MP3 CD/DVD which is what saved it. Also the GPS interface was not horrible.

Don't even bother with the bluetooth support. If they can hear you, the annoying Bright Blue screen will blind you at night, and interrupt your gps navigation capabilities. Bluetooth streaming worked ok, and the GPS still functioned.

About a month after installation, the LCD back light went out.

This is a excellent unit for the price. It does have its pros and cons. Pros: 1 The unit has two SD card slots. One for GPS and one for multimedia files. 2 You can Nav and listen to music 3 You can send video to a rear monitor. 4 The disc drive play MP3's 5 Rear camera connection 6 The nav is FAST!

The cons. 1 When the car is off and the radio is off and you are playing mp3's from the sd card slot it does not return to the last song played when you turn the unit on again. It starts over. 2. NO DIRECT PLAY you have to scroll through the songs. Its software does not give you the folder names and songs.(sucks) The direct play is a big issue and the software in the unit to view songs. It will return to the last song played if you are using a cd or dvd. But it is slow. and you still don't get to view the folders and songs. But for the price, you can learn how to navigate through your music. Overall, great unit

Very satisfied with this unit. Has many features and options for expanding. Had some trouble with the loading mechanism, and Dual set me a brand new unit. If your looking for a lot of features, but don't want to spend a fortune, this is the unit for you.

Excellent Radio . Navigation is excellent. Ipod connect works good but, it could be a little better. I have it connected to 2 12inch subs the radio handles them well but you cant fine tune them as much as pioneer head unit. Other than that i have no regrets for the purchase I made. If you want a radio with nav, ipod, bluetooth and stuff for a great price this is it.

This is an all-in-one unit. If looking to upgrade,then this is the unit to own. I've owned this DUAL XDVDN8290 for just about a month. Everything works great. The bluetooth is very easy to set up and use. The DVD player with the CD combo is great for the kids, the IPOD is easy to operate as well, using the remote or the unit touch screen makes the IPOD priceless. The NAV system is right on the money. Just Add home location and the POI will take over from there. Will upgrade with headrest monitors next. SonicElectronix was a big help with the wiring harness and antenna adapter,also added the back-up camera with the steering wheel control. What more could you ask for. This is the NAV/DVD/CD to have. Compared with the other brands this DUAL can hold its own. The other brands have the add-on costs for bluetooth and ipod connections. Don't wait, this is the unit to own.

This device is amazing and can definitely stand with the big names in car audio. I owned it for a week. The first day I tested the navigation on a 200 mile trip. Worked amazing took me straight to my destination with acurate arrival time and distance. The dvd player is awesome it allows you to hook up external monitors and input devices. The only negative I would give this radio is its Ipod control. I have a 80G Ipod and navigating through the songs is kind of a hassle. The unit sometimes plays songs other than what you pick. If you get this unit the best way to use a ipod with it is to save songs to play lists or shuffle threw all songs. Another negative about this unit is it doesn't allow you to turn off your subwoofers like some high end head units and it only has one subwoofer output jack which is not a big issue. You can buy a extension that turns that one into two output jacks.The bluetooth works good it doesn't adapt to my phones phonebook but that no big issue.It shows caller id so you can see who is calling. Overall I would give this radio a 8 on a scale of 10. I love it the few minor problems are nothing big.

Integration
Integration is a crucial element to the AVIC-F Series design, just like the old AVIC-D3. The front-panel is an entirely new look with a much more minimalistic and upgraded look. HDD Navigation
Where the AVIC-D3 failed, the AVIC-F units will triumph. The AVIC-D3's obsolete DVD-based GPS navigation system has been replaced by an all new hard drive based GPS software that holds over 12 million points of interest. No more shuffling navigation discs, no more stopping or pausing your music! Users will also experience a much smoother and faster response system while navigating since everything has already been preloaded onto the hard drive. In addition, the built-in navigation is at an "always-on" power state that is always ready to go when you are.

Bluetooth, iPod, USB, and... what more can you ask for? Oh yeah, Satellite and HD Radio!
The AVIC-F90BT, AVIC-F900BT, and the AVIC-F700BT all has built-in Bluetooth technology that allow users to make hands-free phone calls with caller ID and call status displayed on the screen. You won't have to buy any additional accessories or add-ons. It is also capable of controlling any iPod audio or video sources through its USB port that supports other media devices that contains AAC, MP3, and WMA files.

The AVIC-F units all feature an SD Card Reader, USB port and RCA audio/video auxiliary inputs. In addition, all AVIC-F series will be able to receive Sirius or XM Satellite Radio and HD Radio with additional accessories.

Conversational Voice Command
Last but not least is the unique voice control technology built-in each of the AVIC-F units. You can now control what music you want to play without even the push of a button. You could simply say "Play artist Chris Brown" and it will play all songs with that artist. In addition, you could likewise do the same for hands-free dialing. What's unique about the voice command feature is its ability to decipher pausing words or fill-in words such as "ummm, uhhh... the uhhhh..." It will still recognize names even if you say "Call uhhh Alison" If phonebook entry Alison has more than one number, the AVIC-F unit will ask "Found three numbers for Alison, which would you like to dial?" It's almost like a SCIFI movie or something from iRobot. This breakthrough feature will definitely impress you and everyone else riding in your car!

I love it! This system is very nice! My radio is so much better and I love how the navigation voice is coming right out of the stereo! You can here it so clearly and it is very simplistic and a carrot can navigate. I just purchased one a few weeks ago, and it has been so helpful to me, because i can take the tom tom with me and be walking on the street for the right address.

The new 2008 Toyota urban runner uses this nifty
GPS. I say nifty because you can remove the navigation system, which by the way, is a very nice, and take it with you wherever you go. I recommend this product if you want GPS for your car as well as anywhere else!!!
